Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union Announces 2020 “Enola M. Fee” Scholarship Winner
Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, GNO FCU, is pleased to announce the 2020 Enola M. Fee Scholarship honoree, Abigail Southworth. The Enola M. Fee Scholarship is given annually to qualified graduating high school students. This year Abigail was awarded $1,000 to apply towards higher education endeavors.
The Enola M. Fee Scholarship Program was established in honor of Enola M. Fee, the distinguished board member who devoted many years of volunteer service to the New Orleans community as well as to GNO FCU. In honor of the same spirit of volunteerism that Enola fostered toward her community, GNO FCU’s scholarship applicants were asked to submit an essay explaining how they deliver the credit union philosophy of, “not for profit, not for charity, but for service” in their daily lives.
This year’s winner personifies the credit union philosophy. Abigail defines herself as a servant leader. “A servant leader is a caring and loving friend to those they serve and does not seek to change the world themselves but motivates those they lead to change the world”, she said. Abigail is graduating from Archbishop Chapelle High School, with a GPA of 4.57. She will be attending the University of Dayton, majoring in Adolescent to Young Adult Education and minoring in Music. We would like to congratulate Abigail on being selected. And although we doubt she’ll need it, we’d like to wish the best of luck in all her future endeavors!
Selection criteria included academic performance and essay presentation on the topic, “How Do You Hope to Deliver the Philosophy – “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, But for Service – Throughout Your Life’s Journey and What This Philosophy Means to You”.
